Depuis Août 2014, j’ai la chance d’avoir mon premier ordinateur portable vraiment portable. Par vraiment portable, j’entend que j’ai déjà possédé des ordinateurs techniquement portables mais qu’en plus du fait de peser l’équivalent d’un camion chargé, ces derniers étaient tous dépendants d’une autre source d’énergie que leur propre batterie, pas très portables quoi…
Bref, j’ai appris à vivre avec le plaisir d’avoir mon ordinateur à tout faire, rien qu’à moi, que personne d’autre ne peut me demander d’utiliser sans subir mon regard furieux “Pas touche, c’est MON ordinateur rien qu’à moi.”. Cette relation, que je qualifierai de quasiment intime avec cet objet qui m’est utile en quasiment toutes circonstances, j’ai eu envie qu’elle soit plus visible de l’extérieur. J’ai eu l’envie que cet objet reflète mes passions, me présente devant les autres sans avoir besoin de passer par la parole. Quoi de mieux que la customisation pour entamer ce processus ?
Vu que je suis très peu doué de mes mains, j’ai choisi d’éliminer tout dessin personnalisé à reproduire sur la face extérieure de mon laptop. Let’s keep it simple. Je me suis donc contenté de deux commandes d’une quinzaine de stickers, chacun représentant simplement une oeuvre culturelle ayant profondément impacté une période de ma vie.
J’ai plus envie de vous parler des thèmes que je regrette de ne pas avoir pu acheter faute de place ou de l’histoire que j’ai vis à vis de chaque oeuvre abordée mais avant tout ça, cet article est surtout un compte-rendu de mon expérience avec le site. Cette double commande fut mon premier contact avec le site Redbubble. J’ai donc commandé en premier lieu pour environ 15€ de stickers. Première bonne surprise : Au bout de six autocollants dans le panier, chaque autocollant passe à -50%, et ça vaut pour les six premiers inclus dans le panier. Grosso modo, ça fait donc l’autocollant entre 90 centimes et 1€50 suivant la taille du bouzin. J’ai regretté de ne pas avoir la taille de chaque sticker sélectionné individuellement histoire de me faire une idée de la proportion de chaque produit mais au final ça fonctionne de la manière suivante : Moins c’est cher, plus c’est petit, et plus c’est cher bah plus c’est gros.
Bref, qualitativement parlant, je n’ai pour l’instant rien à leur reprocher. A noter que les stickers sont mats et disposent tous d’un bord blanc assez prononcé. Ça se voit peu de loin sur mon laptop parce qu’il est blanc mais de près on distingue très clairement les 0,5mm de bords blancs qui englobent chacun des autocollants.
Un 15″, malgré que ça soit déjà assez conséquent en taille, se retrouve vite surchargé une fois la barre des 10 stickers passés. C’est donc avec une énorme tristesse que j’ai du faire une croix sur plusieurs produits de mon panier. J’aurai notamment souhaité que sa coque arbore une référence au sublime animé Princesse Mononoke ou à Neon Genesis Evangelion. J’aurai aussi aimé y mettre plus de références à des groupes de musiques mais malheureusement j’ai du trier. C’est donc avec une fierté non dissimulée que je vais vous livrer ce qu’il y a derrière chacun de ces stickers :
On y trouve donc notamment le logo du groupe Wu-Tang Clan, groupe que j’écoute depuis des années et dont je possède un sac à leur effigie qui m’a été offert par mon amoureuse pour mes 20 ans cette année. Toujours dans la musique, les cinq pseudonymes sont ceux des membres du groupe Niggaz With Attitudes, plus connu sous la réduction N.W.A. . J’ai passé énormément de moments, que ça soit en snow ou skatepark avec des personnes diffusant leurs musiques à longueur de journées. Ces sessions d’écoutes prolongées ont profondément influencé mon catalogue d’écoute musical actuel à tel point que 90% de mes playlists sont composées de hip-hop et de rap anglophone. Pour finir, une petite référence au groupe The Pharcyde qu’il m’a été donné de voir en concert à Annecy très récemment et qui se place sans contestation possible comme un des meilleurs show que j’ai vécu.
Rapport au skate et au snow, la flèche courbée sans bords blancs qui ne provient pas de Redbubble est le logo de la marque Burton Snowboards qui est aussi la marque de ma propre planche. Quand au petit skate au dessus, ce n’est autre que le logo de Vans, une autre marque qui sponsorise notamment énormément d’événements en relation avec le skate.
Côté jeux vidéo, j’ai absolument tenu à représenter Pokemon, Hotline Miami et Danganronpa, ces trois jeux ayant tous eu un énorme impact sur ma vie de joueur de jeux vidéo. Il y en a plein d’autres, notamment The Walking Dead, Red Dead Redemption, Mark of the Ninja mais il a fallu que je fasse un choix. J’ai aussi réservé une petite place à Counter-Strike : Global Offensive malgré mon abandon de ce jeu il y a de ça quelques semaines.
Les deux derniers autocollants non-abordés ne sont ni plus ni moins que pour l’un la boule de cristal originellement possédée par Son Goku dans Dragon Ball, animé qui a bercé mon enfance et pour l’autre autocollant, une partie pixellisée de la première estampe de l’artiste Hokusai dans sa série des 36 vues du Mont Fuji. Je trouve ce dessin juste splendide et je désire plus que tout en posséder une reproduction à afficher dans ma pièce à vivre une fois installé dans mon propre chez-moi.
Mais Redbubble, c’est plus que de la commande d’autocollants. En plus de proposer plein d’autres produits personnalisés, il permet à tout un chacun à l’âme un tant soi peu créative de vendre ses propres visuels. Alors, je vais faire un peu de publicité mais j’ai dans mon entourage virtuel et réel une personne qui développe un vrai univers qui à mon humble avis vaut vraiment le coup d’oeil et qui vient tout juste de mettre ses créations disponibles sous formes de stickers sur la plateforme Redbubble. Donc oui, en dehors de tout ça, je recommande Redbubble à quiconque souhaite customiser ses appareils. L’envoi des autocollants se fait en a peu près trois semaines mais ça vaut le coup de patienter. D’ailleurs, toujours à propos de mon expérience, j’avais en premier lieu fait une commande de 15€. Une semaine environ après la réception de cette première commande, j’ai reçu un mail de la part de Redbubble avec à l’intérieur un bon de 10€ sans minimum d’achat. Ce bon a financé intégralement ma seconde commande. Alors est ce que c’est un processus aléatoire, je ne sais pas, mais je pense que ça vaut le coup de partager cette surprise.
